Caring for Kennedy Fund

Do you hope it's a boy or a girl? That's the question most commonly asked when people find out you're pregnant. Both times I've had to answer that question my answer stayed the same...Healthy. Above all else, that is what most parents hope for. The first time around I got exactly what I hoped for, a healthy baby. The second time around I have not been as fortunate.

I'm trying to raise money for my 7 month old daughter, Kennedy. Her life has been a painful struggle from the very beginning. She was born not breathing from the cord being around her neck and every breath since she has had to fight. Kennedy is profoundly deaf in both ears and blind in both eyes. She has horrible acid reflux that has her vomitting at most of her feedings. Because of it, she has a feeding tube by which she gets most of her nutrients. At 7 months old you expect your baby to be able to hold up her own head, sit up on her own,  roll over and start to crawl. Kennedy can do none of these things. As I write this tears roll down my face, grieving for the normal life she will never have. She has seen more therapists and specialists in her 7 months than most adults see in their entire life yet no one has been able to tell me... Who? What? Why? How? Who is to blame? What is causing all of her symptoms? Why can't we figure this out? How long does she have to live?

We have had a glimmer of hope of finding out what might be causing Kennedy's symptoms, however there is always a catch. Her current insurance limits where she is able to receive treatment. Recent tests have suggested that her symptoms may be caused by a metabolic issue. Her neurologist wants her to see a metabolic specialist, unfortunately, there are not many in my area. The closest are at CHOP (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia) and John Hopkins. Neither accepts her insurance.

Please hear this desperate plea from a desperate mother and help Kennedy get the care every sick child deserves.
