Hailey's Joyful Birthday Boxes

Hi, I'm Hailey and I am seven years old! Over the past few years, I have been searching for a way to REALLY help homeless kids and kids in the foster care system. I have been begging my mom to help me figure out a way to start a charity that could make a difference. My mom has helped me learn A LOT about homeless kids. We have visited different homeless shelters and fed the homeless, we have researched homelessness in California and how kids are effected, we have adopted families at Christmas time and I used my own money to donate some special gifts to kids my age. We recently we spent some time at a local shelter where I got to talk to some homeless kids and find out even more about their lives and the things that make them happy. I asked my mom why we couldn't just buy them all houses so they wouldn't be homeless anymore, but she said that maybe we should focus on a smaller goal for now, so after a lot of research I fell in love with the idea of Birthday Boxes for homeless kids and kids in foster care.  I want to make sure every kid has the chance to feel special on their big day. We have partnered with some great organizations which will help us place a Joyful Birthday Box with kids who really need them! A Joyful Birthday Box will include a handmade card designed by me, a fresh cake (or gift card), candles, party utensils, a book and a specially wrapped birthday gift. The Joyful Birthday Boxes will be delivered to the director of the outreach facility and in turn, given to each child's family.

This year, instead of having my own big birthday party, I've decided that I want all of my family and friends to help me reach my goal of $20,000 so that I can offically start my non-profit and give Joyful Birthday Boxes to 200 kids before April 24, 2015. Will you help my dream come true?
