LEGACY Educational Trip to LA

Help the LEGACY Youth Project get to Los Angeles!

Who are we? 

Our mission the LEGACY Youth Project provides a positive, healthy, safe, transformative educational experience for at promise youth of the Napa Valley. We implement a culturally responsive curriculum, provide mentorship, tutoring, life skills, leadership development, parent engagement and community based projects to ensure our youth are college/career ready and successful in developing meaningful lives.  We are committed to the success of every youth in their positive transformation, their future and leaving a LEGACY. 


Where are we going? 

We would like to take our LEGACY youth on our Annual Educational Trip to Los Angeles. "I don’t know where my life would be without LEGACY" as  current LEGACY member Jorge stated after his second year in the LEGACY Youth Project. This trip will help our youth in understanding what a college campus looks like, in developing relationships with other organizations that share similar visions, visiting Homeboy Industries by meeting ex-gang members that have transformed their lives, developing their skills in arts and as young men and women.  For many it will be their first time in Los Angeles!

What will we do? 

This is an educational field trip and we are excited to participate in the following areas:

College/Career Exploration: We will be visiting and having an instructional tour of the Long Beach State University. The college tour would allow the youth to gain insight into college. 

Life Skills Development: We will be spending a full day at Homeboy Industries starting off with breakfast at Homegirl Café. Homeboy Industries is the largest gang intervention center in the United States that offer various services to the community, click here for more information on Homeboy Industries.  Our youth will be immersed at Homeboy Industries for a full day of activities where we will engage with Homeboy Industries Drug and Alcohol Counselor and Artist Fabian Debora doing some art work and then working with Homeboy Industries Associate Executive Director Hector Verdugo doing a young men and women development workshop. 

Relationships, Team Building/Unity: We will be spending an afternoon at Santa Monica Beach for team-building activities and a bit of relaxation. 

How can you support the LEGACY Youth?

Your generous contribution will assist in providing: 
- Meals: 3 meals a day for each youth
- Transportation: from Napa to L.A. for this 4 day trip. 

With your help we can make this educational field trip a possibility and ultimately in supporting our youth in transforming their lives and our community.
