Taylor vs GBS

Donation protected
Taylor ,17, contracted Gullain-Barre Syndrome in November 2014 and within 3 days of diagnosis was in intensive care .paralyzed,at Kingston General Hospital. Life support, feeding tubes, extensive pain medications,24 hour personal nursing care, motion beds to avoid sores. Her mother and father wanted to be with her always but dad had to get back to work in Orillia and mom took a leave from her job to help with Taylors care. Dad travels 5 1/2 hours each way weekly to be with her and the trip home is always painful. 12 hour days in intensive care for mom and always positive because of her daughters strength and hard core will to defeat this horrific bump in her teenage life. Taylor has since recovered enough to move her to a rehabilitation centre in Kingston to strengthen her muscles and relearn how to walk, but that stage of her recovery will end in mid April. The family now must find suitable accommodations for Taylor and her mom to continue her recovery to a normal teenage life and they need to stay in the Kingston area for Taylor to continue her schooling and to be near her team of doctors at Kingston General Hospital and the St.Marys rehab centre. Unfortunately because GBS is considered a "temporary disability" she isn't eligible for ODSP assistance and Taylor needs specialty items and specific accommodations. If you knew Taylor like we all know Taylor ,this is an investment that will benefit a very strong willed and amazing girl to return to become a strong member of our society. Please google Gullain-Barre Syndrome to explore what Taylor has overcome..
