Turning 15 and having a Brain Tumor

Imagine your daughter turning 15 and on a Sunday evening a Dr. calls and says there is a huge possibility that she has a brain tumor. The questions and emotions that one goes through to figure out how and when and why.

Jasmine is this 15-year-old that received this news. The last 4 months have been a roller coaster of emotions and tests and unfortunately random moments of vision loss with excruciating headaches.

Jasmine has a brain tumor called a pituitary adenoma. Her last scans showed it was just a little over 2cm and is pressing on her optic nerves. The more activity she does the worst off the headaches and vision loss becomes. Her passion is the basketball court; she also planned on getting back to softball and trying out for the weightlifting team.  Unfortunately, she is sitting this year out for her health along with Homecoming and everything else that a teen would usually be focusing on at this time.

The type of surgery Jasmine will need is called a transsphenoidal surgery.  This type of surgery (typically 6 hours long) involves an endoscope and/or surgical instruments that are inserted into part of the brain by going through her nose.   From our research the Cleveland Clinic doctors have everything needed to complete this surgery and were highly recommended.

Eddie and I are looking for support in many ways.  We need your prayers and if that isn't your thing, just keep are daughter in mind and hope for a safe surgery and fast recovery.  In addition to your prayers we are asking that you share our fundraiser for Jazzy's Fight.  The Funds from this go fund me fund raiser will be used to cover gas  during our travel (5.5 hrs. one way), food and hotel costs for the week that Eddie and I will be in Cleveland by our daughters side and help with medical costs.  Just by sharing our link helps.  We are thankful and grateful for any prayers and or donations we receive.

We will leave this Thursday December 3rd to be in Cleveland Friday morning for pre-op appointments and we will spend the weekend there as the weather is supposed to be bad.  Surgery will be first thing Monday morning December 7th, and Jasmine will be required to stay in the hospital for recovery and observation.  We will keep everyone posted on the Jazzy's Fight Facebook page and on here if possible.
