Redeeming Love in the DRC

Donation protected
Dear family and friends,

When I think about the way the Lord leads us it can be surprising. I have discovered that I can make my own plans, but God continues to redirect me towards His. While visiting my family last fall, God gave me a little “nudge” of redirection. This little “nudge” was prompting me with the question: “Do you have the courage to leave Gunnison and step into a new adventure?”  I was intimidated to take this leap of faith. I had to trust that God knew the plans He had for me; plans to take care of me, keep me safe, and plans to give me a hope and a future. As I packed up the life I knew, immediately I could tell that this next step would determine my destiny. Shortly after arriving in Colorado Springs, another little “nudge” came from the Lord. My heart was filled with compassion towards loving children who don’t have parents and have never experienced love at all. At a women’s bible study I met Julie Mapatano. The moment we connected I realized we shared the same heart of compassion towards loving the unloved. I was moved to tears as she shared with me about her ministry, Redeeming Love, and how she has been impacting lives in Africa. I knew in that moment that I was supposed to go to Africa with Julie and as I shared it with her she was in tears too.

Redeeming Love Ministries is taking a 14 day mission trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo this coming June 2015.  We will be serving RLM in the village of Luwindja to share the love and power of God with the abandoned children of the DRC. Our hope for this trip is to give the Congolese children food, clothing, an education and love. The heart behind this is to allow God to use us to restore and heal the brokenness that resulted in the wars, abandonment, and abuse these children have encountered. Please feel free to check out RLM’s website to find out more about what they are doing in the DRC at www.rlmcongo.net.

I’d like to invite you to be a part of what God is doing in the lives of these Congolese children by assisting in the funding of my trip. Whether or not you are able to give, I ask for your prayers that God will prepare me to minister to the children of the DRC. I need to raise $3,100 by March 10th to cover my airfare, living accommodations, and other expenses. I believe that not only will God use me to bless the children and community in the DRC, but also I anticipate what He will do in my life as I’m there. Whether through your giving or your prayers, thank you for considering partnering with me as I take this next step in the journey God has for me.

We have partnered with Joy To The World Foundation (JTTWF) who accepts donations on our behalf. All donors will receive a receipt showing a donation to the non-profit Joy To The World Foundation as well as a thank you letter from Redeeming Love Ministries of the DR Congo.

If you would prefer to donate by check instead, make checks payable to Joy To The World Foundation, and write “Mission Trip 2015 Jessica” in the memo portion of the check. Mail check to:
