Save Gunner

When I was seven years old, I got my first dog. My three older sisters and I raised the money ourselves and got an eight week old yellow lab named Gunner. We’ve been best buds ever since. I am 15 now and Gunner is almost nine years old. He’s been with me for what feels like my whole life. While Gunner and I were on our daily walk with my dad, Gunner got hurt pretty bad. While we were running, he stopped and almost fell over because he had injured his back-right leg. My dad said it's probably just a thorn and it will probably go away soon… But I know that old dog too well to know that there was something really wrong with him. My dad rushed home and got the car as I waited with my dog on the side of the road. Because gunner could not jump into the car himself like he used to, I lifted my dog into the car and we went back home to see what was wrong. We couldn’t find anything wrong with him that night, so we decided to go to bed and hope that the next morning, Gunner would be his happy, healthy self. Unfortunately, that was not at all the case. My dad took Gunner on a trip to the vet that day and found out that Gunner had torn his ACL. To fix it, Gunner would have to get surgery. It would be 2,500 dollars to get the surgery. We only have about one month to get him fixed. If we wait, he will develop arthritis in his other leg due to putting all of his weight on it, and he would most likely tear his ACL in that leg as well, giving him no back legs. If we wanted to fix it then, it would then cost 5,000 dollars. The only other option after that would be to put him down. I can’t remember life without Gunner and I certainly can’t imagine life without him either. So I need your help. I have no way of making 2,500 dollars in a month by myself, but with a little bit of help, we can all save Gunner.
