Ryan's Medical Expense Fund

Donation protected
On January 10, Ryan went to the ER with a little bit of pain under his rib cage. After 2 CT scans the doctor said he had a baseball size mass on his left kidney. The mass, kidney, two lymph nodes and the adrenal gland were all removed on January 21.

After 3 weeks the pathology showed that it was a rare cancer called Ewing's sarcoma. Only 200 cases of Ewing's are diagnosed in the WORLD each year. Even less cases are diagnosed when the mass starts in the soft tissue (the kidney). Most cases start in the bones. We found out last Friday, February 20th, that he needs to get started on chemo asap. The first week he will have one, 8 hour treatment. Then in two weeks he will have one 8 hour day followed up by four, 6 hour day treatments in a row. A total of 5 days in a row. One of the drugs he will get after this week long treatment is a white blood cell booster called Neulasta. That one injection alone is $4,500. And that is the pharmacy's cost. If I understand the doctor correctly, he may even have 3 during that week long treatment. He can also get this injection at home just like insulin injections. The reason he will be needing this is because this course of chemo is the strongest that they have available. The doctor has said that it will totally wipe out all of your white blood cells also known as your infection defense system of your body.

In addition to the treatments mentioned above, Ryan may have to complete a total of 50 weeks of chemo treatment. During these treatment days, Ryan will be out of work and unpaid.  As many know from experience, medical expenses add up very quickly and we are truly grateful for anything we may be blessed with to go towards these expenses.

We have been married for 4.5 years and we have a beautiful 4 year old daughter and a wonderful 1 year old son. I (Heather) am self employed and own a small hair salon. Ryan is an outside salesperson for HD Supply Whitecap.

You never think this will happen to you. You don't plan for it. You want to keep it as far from your mind as possible. However, this is happening. There is no doubt in our minds that we are going to have a victorious outcome. We are so thankful for what the Lord is doing in this situation and we can't wait to share the testimony after we come out on top. We look forward to sharing our story with you.

God bless you!!
