I need your help, not for me, but for one of the best people on this planet. Seriously. I've been lots of places and met lots of people and she really is one of the best out there. And since you're reading this I know you agree with me, because if you've ever met her, or anyone who's met anyone who's ever met her, you will already know that it's true. Liz Strauch is an amazing Christian, woman, wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, colleague, employee, volunteer, etc. etc. etc. I'm proud and OH SO LUCKY to call her my very best friend in the whole world, to be the Godmother to her amazing boys and to have her as the Godmother to my sweet girls. So what's this about? It's about helping out one of the most amazing people on the planet in one of the few ways we can.
Liz was diagnosed in 2012 with a 2cm Pineal Cystic Brain Tumor and in December of that year she very bravely had brain surgery to have it removed. While the surgery was successful and initially she felt SO much better, after a few months it became clear that while she was better and the cyst was gone, there were symptoms that were coming back and new ones to deal with. The surgery very likely left her with a Traumatic Brain Injury and may have triggered (or it may have come from somewhere else, we don't know for sure) Idiopathic Hypersomnia. Either way it's been a rough two years. She's seen SO many doctors, had SO many tests, tried SO many treatments and all the while she has been a warrior of happiness, hope and positivity. You know it's true if you know her. Most people have no idea how hard she struggles or how hard her life is or the HUGE changes she's had to adjust to with this illness because most people see her on good days and she's always so happy and positive and darn it, the lady just never complains – she really makes rest of us look bad! But that's Liz, you know, so that's where I come in.
I'm here to tell you that she needs you. Her family needs you. They are really struggling. And it's unthinkable to them to ask for help even though they'd be the FIRST in line to help any one of us if we needed it. So, while we can't fix her medical condition, and we can't wave our magic wands and give her back herself or magically transport her to the end of this challenge to stand in the sun and sigh with relief that she's through it, what we CAN do is PRAY and we can help alleviate their financial burden. All those doctors are expensive. All those treatments cost money. It's more than insurance will cover. It's more than they can afford. It's been two years of bills and there will be more before this is over. We can help with that. We can make sure they don't get sent to collections, or lose their house, or worry about food for their family. We can make a difference for this wonderful woman and her family. Together we can help them.
So please PRAY – that's first and foremost. God is in control of this journey and He is holding her hand and walking her through this valley. We know that and we know He will see her through. Pray for her family too - for her amazing children and her strong husband. They have been so supportive and take great care of her.
Then please give whatever you can – even if it's $1 - and then SHARE this post so that we can spread the word. Part of what I think will be healing for Liz is to watch the ticker of “donors” go up – marking each person who loves and supports her. I think even more than the money seeing that people number go up with touch her heart. I honestly don't think she realizes how many people love her. But I do. I know you are out there. I know you'll hear my rally cry and you'll come running for her.
