My name is Alexis Perez and I am currently working to become an exchange student in Finland through the Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) program. The RYE program is a study-abroad opportunity for youths in secondary school to travel around the globe and experience new cultures. Traveling the world and experiencing new things has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. The opportunity to participate in the exchange program my senior year will only be the beginning of a promising future.
I imagine similar requests have been presented to you. If you're asking yourself, "What makes Alexis Perez a good candidate?" I believe my dedication and work ethic are unparalleled to most. I maintain a 4.35 on a 4.0 scale. My school involvement includes the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Student Crisis, Student Ambassadors and Girls Varsity Basketball Team. In addition to my involvement within my high school I also volunteer at a local veterinary clinic. This not only allows me to donate my time to those in need but has reassured my desire for a career in Veterinary Science.
With your help, I believe what was once a dream of mine will become a reality. Although local Rotary clubs generously host students and provide room and board with a host family, students are still responsible for a portion. Costs vary from country to country; I need to raise a total of $7,000. This fee will assist in paying for airfare, out-of-country insurance along with additional necessities needed during the exchange. I want to thank you in advance for taking the time to consider my request. There is no donation too small as it only brings me closer to achieving this once in a lifetime opportunity.
