Rebuilding after Harvey

Thank you to all visiting this page. My name is Tiffany; this page is created on behalf of myself and my other 4 siblings "The Jackson 5". We have all personally been affected by hurricane Harvey along with all of Houston and surrounding areas. My Mother's home is one that has been affected the most. When the Barker reservoir was released it drowned her entire community in order to save hundreds of thousands of homes. While we now understand why her community was the "sacrificial lamb", the developers never prepared us for a flood of this magnitude. As it stands 85% of the neighbors were without flood insurance (appraisal shows we are not on a flood plane) and government assistance had been extremely slow. Thus far, our community is still under 3-4 ft water with the hopes of getting in to salvage what we can in another 10 days. My mother has been a home owner of the Canyon Gate family for almost 20 yrs. Every major holiday, graduation, birthday, etc was celebrated in this home, our family home, the neucleous of my mother, siblings, and grandkids being was in this space together. It is tragic to see EVERYTHING my Mom has built lost but more tragic that financial aid is nonexistent for she and my grandmother who is on dialysis 3 days a week and a fixed income. While the community outpouring of generosity has been appreciated beyond measure, what we need most is the means to provide a home that they can call their own and get back to their regular routine. Our goal is to raise funds to build out on a current structure of family property so that they have immediate housing vs waiting for the bureaucratic process to take place. We know that the process will be a lengthy process and are prepared to tackle the rebuild but it is estimated to take over 6 months.
