Support Nathan Scott's Road to Recovery

Story

Hello everyone. My name is Matthew Scott, brother to Rusty Scott, Micah Scott, and Andrew Scott. Our father was involved in a terrible accident Easter morning and lost most of everything he had. Thankfully he was able to make it out alive. He has a long road ahead but with the help of our friends and family he will be back to his old self I'm sure of it. As of now our primary concern is getting Dad the necessary treatment he needs for rehabilitation once he leaves the burn unit he is currently at in Mobile, AL. He does not have regular Medicare currently so we are anticipating higher than normal medical bills and deductibles, as well as needing all the basic essentials one would need from having your home destroyed. Our brother Micah had originally posted a facebook post previously that I thought captured our Dad's situation perfectly, along with another option to donate if you felt compelled to do so. Feel free to read below and we could not thank you all enough for your support. Thanks Hello FB friends & family. For those of you that don’t know me, I’m Micah Scott. I'm writing on behalf of my three brothers to humbly request assistance for our father, Nathan Scott. He suffered a traumatic burn injury on Easter morning, March 31, 2024, due to a propane explosion that burned his camper/home to the ground and nearly took him with it. We are so thankful he made it out alive. He is currently at USA Medical Center in the Burn Intensive Care Unit. The doctors estimate his burns encompass 44% of his body, but only time will tell the true extent, as we have been told "burn injuries are a marathon." His medical team has started procedures to remove all non-viable tissue, and his skin is looking better than we anticipated. Although surgery isn't off the table yet, he is alive, conscious, and we are all very grateful! The road ahead for recovery, however, will be difficult and long no matter how you slice it. For those who do not know him, here is a little bit about my dad. He is a God-fearing man who loves his family. He spends his time taking my grandmother to Mass and taking out her trash each day. He gives advice, not based on his successes, but from lessons life has taught him. That advice is always laced with wisdom, temperance, grace and mercy. He is a unique and jovial man who will not waste any opportunity to make you laugh. You can tell by his picture it's hard to break his spirit even in the worst of times. I have always been impressed with his ability to survive on less than what he needed. I've even described him as being a MacGyver in the kitchen, as he would maximize every last ingredient, expiration date be damned. He has a gut of steel! He is a strong and humble man who has endured much in his life. As much as you can, you’re right, don’t try to change out of this contentment. He lost everything in the fire except for his car. His "everything" wasn't much by the world’s standards, but nevertheless he has been truly content. He would never consider asking for help or think that he deserved any, and therefore is unaware we are setting up this fund. Truthfully, I don't how one puts a price on rebuilding a man’s home and life from scratch. He has an uncertain road ahead with expenses exceeding what insurance will cover. While we are asking for financial contributions, we especially ask for your prayers. This will be a long journey and we know prayer is powerful! Any donations my dad receives will go to him alone, Nathan R. Scott, Sr, to pay for present and future medical bills and to get him back on his feet rebuilding his life one day at a time. Thank you for your time and generosity. It means the world to us. *** new link *** https://www.venmo.com/u/nathanrscott1957 New Link. I know some folks were having issues finding him or getting the link to work in Venmo. Also, if Venmo asks for the last four of dad’s phone # it’s 6135! Thank you all for your generosity and especially your prayers!!
