My son Jonathan (age 33), was diagnosed with end stage kidney failure in July 2014. Prior to this illness, Jonathan was married in April and he and his wife were both working full time, hiking every weekend and building their new life together. After many tests it was determined that he has a rare autoimmune disease (IgA Nephropathy) that caused his kidney failure. Jonathan is now on dialysis 11 hours per day and is unable to work. Prior to this illness Jonathan worked in IT and his wife works in Social Work. Now, they are living with family to save money and keep up with their financial obligations (school loans, etc). Jonathan plans to return to his work, however, at this time it is not possible. He is greatful to have insurance, but with the co-pays and other costs he must pay out of pocket, it has not only wiped out their savings, but continues to be a stressful burden.
Anything you can do to help will be very appreciated to lighten his load and concerns.
