On February 20th, 2015 my family was given the sad news that my father, David Robert Girardin age 62, had terminal Colon Cancer that had spread to his Liver and Lungs. This news devastating my family and changed the dynamic of our family forever.
My fathers life was about making sure my mother, Sherri was taken care of and comfortable. For the past 16 years my mother has fought her many ailments, including Lupus, Diabetes and parcel blindness. With her inability to drive or work, my father made sure my mother always got to her doctor appointments and he worked his tail off to make sure they made enough to live comfortably.
My fathers Cancer came on so fast and has changed his life so much in the past two month, that is has been hard to deal. So many doctor appointments, hospital stays, surgeries, prescriptions and chemo treatments. Life has been very stressful and emotional.
The pain my father has endured over the past few weeks has been hard to watch and hear about. My family is in the process of trying to get my parents into a wonderful Assisted Senior Living facility, however, with my parents both not able to work and their minimal finances, we are not sure if we can afford it on top of all their other expenses. This is the reason for this GoFundMe page, to help my parents live as comfortable as we can and not add to their stress and pain with worrying about how they will pay for their next doctor trip, hospital stay or prescription refill. The Assisted Living Facility would take care of most of these issues and since my fathers mobility is minimal do to the cancer and my mother ailments this facility will help greatly.
