Myrna&Coach Wilmer Fund

Last summer(2016), former UVA player (99-02) Merrill Robertson was arrested and charged with civil and criminal offenses  for defrauding dozens of investors out of millions of dollars. One of those investors is former UVA assistant football coach, Danny Wilmer.

Coach Wilmer was on staff at UVA from 1984-2000. Upon his retirement, Coach transferred his retirement accounts over to Merrill and was promised a substantial monthly income. Coach Wilmer loves deeply and trusts with all his heart. He truly trusted and believed in Merrill. Unfortunately, his trust was severely abused and taken advantage of. Coach Wilmer never received any income from the retirement accounts because Merrill was using the money to live a lavish lifestyle. The FBI investigation revealed that money was spent on vacations, expensive luxury cars, monthly spa treatments,college tuition and business ventures. 

Coach Wilmer and his wife Myrna lost their entire life savings. They are struggling to make ends meet. They are currently living off of cash advances from Coach Wilmers life insurance policy. While they wait for this case to be settled and while they pray to recoup some of their money, they are in desperate need of funds to pay bills and to live. Any donation, big or small, will be incredibly appreciated as they both try to love their way through it all. 

I know there are many other former players who would say the same but Coach Wilmer was my dad away from home while I was a player at UVA. He believed in me when I didn't know what it meant to believe in myself. He supported and encouraged me when it was needed and he was firm and tough when he needed to be as well. Either way, it was all a major part of the life changing opportunity that he fought for me to have. He knows I love him and I know, without a doubt, that he loves me.
