Get Luna Home

Donation protected

After being in Bali for about 2 months I was walking out of a yoga class back to my scooter when I heard a small cry coming from the bushes. After a bit of searching, I found a tiny little fuzzball kitten, only about 4 weeks old, crying for her Mom who was no where to be seen. I scooped her up and she immediately nuzzled right into my neck and stopped crying.

Before too long there were a couple more people gathered around. They all agreed I should take her home for the night. Someone suggested that we put her on the ground for a little bit to see if she would run towards her Mom.

It wasn't the best decision as she very quickly ran up inside the belly of a scooter. Like way up there. It took about 10 people, 1 hour, some tools, and a couple scratches to the hand to finally get her out.

After everyone had left I put her in my purse with my yoga pants to keep her warm and rode my scooter to the grocery store to pick up some kitten food. I had never walked or scooted more gingerly in my life. I was so worried I would hurt this tiny little kitten.

When I got her home I  sat down, unzipped the bag, and took her out. She was so scared and so small. Her white fur was actually grey from being so dirty. Her eyes had stuff coming out of them and she was extremely skinny. I could feel her spine easily. I put her up against my chest, sang her a little song, and she fell asleep in seconds.

It's been about a month now that I've had her with me. Needless to say, I am madly in love with my little Luna. She sticks to me like velcro and always either has her eyes on me or is actually on me. She's such a happy kitty and has tons of energy and at the most convenient of times of course... (either the crack of dawn or right when I turn off the light for bed).  :)

The trouble is, I leave Bali in a couple months and I can't bring myself to leave here. My flights are booked and I can't change them. Cats and dogs aren't officially allowed to leave Bali at all,  which means I need to get her transported first via car to Jakarta, then from there she needs to get special papers, an export permit, vet checks, 2 days of boarding, a special crate for the airline trip, transport to the airport, a spot in a cargo plane, and all the care in between. It's going to run over $1,500 to bring her home safely.

I can't bring myself to abandon her here since she's already had that happen with her real cat Mom.  I have the option of leaving her in the shelter, but it's so full that most cats just end up living their lives in the shelter with minimal human contact and a lot of loud barking dogs. The sad truth is most cats run the streets here and don't have such a happy ending to their lives.

Since I don't have the $1,500 for the transport service to get her safely out and I can't bear to leave my little Luna in Bali, I'm asking for any help that can be spared to get her home safe to Canada.

Any help at all is GREATLY appreciated. <3

Sincerely,

Luna's adoptive mother
