Hi everyone:
My name is Myko Lyric, I am a recent graduate of NYU Tisch and a dancer from Los Angeles. Though I began dancing at three years old, I became more serious about a dance career in high school. During that time, I won a National Youth Award for Outstanding Choreography with Kaivalya Brewerton for our dance centered around the 9/11 Attacks. I was also invited to perform at the 86th Academy Awards alongside Pharrell Williams in his "Happy" performance.
In college, I injured my ankle during freshman year and a series of different ligaments in my ankle, foot, and knee became affected as a result. I was not able to dance professionally for 3 years.
With physical therapy and faith, I have recovered. Though this is only a summer intensive, it represents my opportunity to quantum leap and become a more competitive dancer in this industry. I will be in New York City, which also allows me to go on multiple auditions and meet likeminded dancers to expand my community and opportunities. There is also a chance to be invited into more programs within into Ailey School. Thus, this is a dream for me on many levels.
I need help. My mom is a single mom, and the money I've saved has gone to NYU, rent, and other necessary expenditures. Though I have continued to save, tuition ($3000) plus living/food costs ($3000) are exactly what I'm struggling with. I need $5,000 by May 10th, 2018 to have the ability to attend this program. Anything you are able to donate in support of my dream is greatly appreciated!!
