My name is Adalyn, "Addy" for short. I'm two and a half years old and I live in Williamsburg, Ontario, with my mommy LeahAnn and my daddy Sheldon and my little brother Corbin who is almost one year old.
My mommy and daddy recently had their world turned upside down. I've been having a lot of fevers, urinary tract infections and colds for the last little while. They just wouldn't go away. One night, I went to CHEO where they discovered I had a rare form of kidney cancer called a Wilms Tumor. That is what is making me sick.
This cancer mostly happens in very young children. Thankfully, because the doctors found out what was making me sick, the outlook is pretty good. I have already had a surgery where they took an 11cms tumour and my kidney out of my belly. They say I'm at a stage 3 but they are still doing tests.
I feel really lucky because my mommy is incredibly good at looking after people. In fact, she is a nurse at the Winchester Hospital and takes care of really sick people. She will be taking time off to take care of me for the next few months as I undergo radiation and chemotherapy and other treatments at CHEO.
There will be lots of expenses and little income in the months to come. I am reaching out to our community, friends and family for love and support. I hope you are able to help my mommy and daddy so that we can fight this disease and win.
