Andries went from fine to leukemia.

Leukemia?!? . . . we thought it was a sinus infection. Our "normal" is now dramatically different than it was a Few month ago. We took for granted the stability, energy and life that Andries brought to our lives. Now, what we thought was a simple sinus infection has turned out to be leukemia, treatable with 5 months of chemotherapy and a very expensive bone marrow trance plant with constant hospitalization. As he is not covered by Canada's health insurance, he would have approximately one month left to live without treatment. Thankfully, his loved ones and the doctors at Kingston General have convinced him not to forgo his treatment.  As Dries is a visitor to Canada (waiting on his application for parental sponsorship to be accepted), he was only able to purchase emergency travel medical insurance that does not cover cancer treatments. Dries's life is here in Canada. He and his wife Anita came to Canada to be closer to their two sons Hentie and Gerrie (who live in British Columbia and Florida) and four grandchildren.

Andries is undergoing his second round of chemo everything is looking very good and he is handling the treatment really well. Dries is keeping his positive and upbeat attitude throughout, as is Anita.

Our goal is to pay for Andries to undergo the bone marrow transplant and be able to keep Dries on the required treatment for the full 5 months and we are asking for your help to make this happen.

Please help us to make 2018 a year Andries will never forget, the year he gets given a chance to be the grandpa he always dreamed of being.

The Grandpa that teaches the little ones how to fish and gets to be there when they get married.

Thank you greatly for taking the time to read our story. Every penny given with love will count for so much more.

Andries is a bright shining light who brings smiles to the faces of everyone he meets. With your help, we hope to keep him around for decades to come. Thank you :-)
