The Mike Doucette Fund

In September of 2017, my buddy Mike began to have sinus issues that they believed was causes by a deviated septum. In December after many tests it was diagnosed and being treated as Myasthenic Gravis. Even after the treatments Mikes problems got worse and it began to affect his speech and then his muscle strength. In June Michael was admitted to the Hospital and was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), what people refer to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease”. In July it was confirmed by the Neurologist at The Veterans Administration and was a devastating blow to this young man.

Mike is currently under treatment for ALS which only manages the symptoms because there is no cure. Mike has several weekly appointments to the doctors here and the VA in Fresno, CA. Mikes main focus now is living every day to its fullest and spending time with Brayden. Mikes family ties are strong and we are doing everything we can to help him through basic life functions. He has limited mobility right now, and his ability to communicate is getting more difficult as the disease progress.
