2018 Nicaragua Mission Trip

Dear Family and Friends,

Happy New Year everyone! Harry here and I am excited to share with you that I will be returning to Nicaragua July 2nd-9th, 2018 for the fourth summer as a missionary supporting my passion, Open Hearts Ministries and Imagine Ministry. It is amazing to love on these kids in the Lord’s name, and get closer to God while serving. This year my mother will be returning with me and I am excited to share this experience with my younger brother Jack (10) and open his eyes to the reality of living in a third world country. These ministries and the family who run them have become a part of who I am and I have big plans on how I will serve and support them in the future, but for now I still need your help.

First, I need your prayers for myself, my family and our team as we all work to raise money, overcome fear and doubt and travel to Nicaragua to serve the children. We have approximately 50 people traveling to Nicaragua at the end of June and beginning of July this year.

Next, we need help financially. The cost of 50 people traveling to serve in Nicaragua is $80,000. This fee covers airfare, meals, room & board, in-country transportation AND the cost of the projects we will undertake while there. We never know for sure what we will be doing until we’re closer to departure, as the needs within the ministry are constantly changing and urgencies develop, but in the years past we have built a church, dug trenches, purchased a freezer for the school to keep food fresh, tarped homes to prepare for the rainy season, painted the Imagine School, purchased beds for kids sleeping on dirt floors, purchased bikes for Ruby Ranch, did demolition, brought kids from the Barrio to the beach or Ruby Ranch and provided food for the poorest of communities in Nicaragua.

What I love about this trip is it's a place where offers and stars don't matter and your GPA isn't asked for. It's simply people loving people, loving God. We are there as humble servants willing to do whatever God calls us to do for His people. Sometimes it’s as simple as a smile and a hug or playing with a child. Sometimes it is going to the home of a family with a gift of rice, beans and oil and having them weep as they explain they hadn’t eaten in days and were  praying for food when we arrived. Sometimes it's buying a bed for a child who has been sleeping on a dirt floor, for years. We are not changing their lives, they change ours, forever.
