Hurricane Florence

Hi my name is Stephanie.  My husband and I recently bought our dream home in April 2018 in Havelock, North Carolina.  We wanted to be closer to our son and his family.  We were so excited. This is going to be our forever home. On September 15, 2018 we were one of many families that lost a lot from Hurricane Florence.  We were not home at the time to try and protect our home because Ed was on the road working for Master Lee out of Latrobe, Pennsylvania and I was in Shipshewana, Indiana taking care of my dad. My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in May 2018. He passed away September 6. 2018. So while the hurricane was hitting North Carolina, I was burying my dad. We did not have flood insurance because we did not live in a flood zone.  We do not have any bodies of water near us...what happened is that the storm dumped 24+ inches of rain that had no where to go but in our house.  I am not looking to profit from this tragedy just to have our home restored. to its livable condition.  We lost most of our personal property...living room, dining room & bedroom furniture.  We are working with some charities that are willing to help us rip out the damaged walls, floors and carpeting....we will use the money to repair our home and give donations to those that help us.  This is not easy for us to ask for help, being a USMC family, my husband and I have always handled our responsibilities but this is above and beyond what we can handle and we just don’t know where to turn.
