My wife is always missing from our Family walks!

I’m raising money for an off road/ specialist mobility scooter so that my disabled wife can join us on our family walks. Now more than ever we as a society are enjoying the outside, imagine if that wasn’t as easy as walking out your front door? She’s always unable to come because we live in a small village (the roads have no paths and the off road path/field edges are thick with mud and bumpy terrain. We can’t safely use just the side of the road because we have three children under 5. This is one of the major reasons I’m doing this fundraiser, my sons birth was very traumatic at the start of this year, she suffered a placental abruption, suspected pre-eclampsia, causing a huge loss of blood and both her and my son came close to losing their lives. This has hit my wife hard and really made her want to be there for the memories, and after nearly losing her I just want to spend as much quality time together as a family, instead of her always being left at home. It’s frustrating that something that is simple to so many families is made near on impossible and very stressful for ours. We have tried to go out with her everyday road scooter and she’s ended up grounded/stuck or once again the scooter breaks. Part of her is broken inside, when my daughter is always asking “mummy why aren’t you coming with us” or “I want mummy to come”. It’s such a hard question to answer when all my wife wants to do is come with us. My wife suffers with POT syndrome, hyper-mobility, and Myalgic encephalomyelitis. She is unable to walk safely outside the house, has had falls and many incidents where she’s hurt herself. She suffers with extreme fatigue thats debilitating, joint pain, dizziness, migraines and hypertension. She suffers mentally due to the fact she’s unable to do things and spends a lot of time in bed having to rest as she is unable to function. She struggles with the guilt that this much needed time resting gives her, and the lack of time she gets to spend with her children. So when we have to walk the dog daily, it’s hard because she just wants to come and “be normal” as she would put it. These off-road/ specialist mobility scooters are near on £4000-5000 second hand and then there’s insurance, servicing and upkeep, it’s like having another car to look after. I just want to get my wife a piece of equipment that helps her do what so many of us take for granted. It’s like she needs this piece of equipment in order to do what an able human being can just walk out the house and do. Her scooter becomes her legs, and this would change her and our family’s lives.
