Too many times do people put on a face or attitude to impress or blend in. The My Way Scholarship is for those who stand out and are true to themselves while inspiring others.
What isThe GREEN Program ?
-- The GREEN Program provides award-winning short term experiential education programs on our world's most pressing issues in sustainable development. Since 2009, they have traveled with more than 3,000 student leaders representing 470 universities and 70 countries around the world. They currently have scholarships for students wanting to attend this trip, but I would like to add one more.
I went on a GREEN Program trip almost a year to the day. A 10-day research experience to the vast lands of Fire and Ice (Iceland). It was truly life changing and allowed me to break out of my shell and abandon the notion that I should care what people think. This trip made me change my career path, and while some may consider changing your career aspirations 4 years into schooling a mistake, I argue the exact opposite. For once in my life I was reading scientific articles with a purpose and passion. During this experience I truly was able to promote my true self and I began writing and blogging. I was projecting a side of me that I had never done before. Over were the days of mundane school assignments and boring part-time jobs. This trip instilled a passion in me to do something greater in this world, and I want to award others with this same life changing opportunity.
The My Way Scholarship is named after my late Grandpa, for he had lived a life that was true to himself in every way.
I want to award applicants who have been true to themselves in their life, or need that final push to live their best lives. I needed that push myself, and it has been the best jump I have ever taken.
I am so passionate about this that I am matching dollar for dollar up to my $500 goal to reach a total of $1000 in scholarships. I truly hope we can exponentially exceed this number. I truly believe you don't experience the beauty of life until you make someone else's life better. Let's make someone else's life better today.
