My big walk in March- "Fifteen journeys to school"
Hi, my name is Christa and this coming July I will be travelling to Peru with Edukid. EduKid work to remove barriers to education for children living in extreme poverty, not just in Peru, but in other countries such as Uganda or Cambodia.
In Peru I will travel to meet the children of Imacita, a remote Amazonian village, who do not have the things that we take for granted everyday, such as a plentiful food or water supply, a stable home, or most importantly an education.I will be engaging in their learning and play to greater my understanding of their day-to-day struggles and aiming to help find long-term solutions.
One of the main barriers for the children of Imacita is the distance between home and the local school. It is a 2 hour walk one way with no public transport access. This means that many children do not receive a full education.
To help support for this charity and as part of my global citizenship project prior to the trip, I will be walking the equivalent of 15 journeys to school (30 hours in total) during the month of March. This will put into perspective for me the struggle faced by the children I will meet just to have an education.
I would be grateful for even the smallest of donations and every penny I raise will go towards this charity project, helping to establish positive and sustainable changes.
