As many of you may (or may not) know, I am heading to the Fijian Islands in July 2018 for 2 weeks with VESA (Volunteer Eco Students Abroad)to help to provide a remote village with access to fresh water, to restore local school equipment and the school buildings, and provide basic workshops and lessons through English. These workshops will demonstrate proper hygiene techniques and the importance of nutrition to the local children tailored to each grade's needs.
The proceeds which I aim to raise will go towards the above projects, the hiring of local tradespeople to supervise and assist in the projects, the ecofriendly building materials, and provide donations to local charities.
VESA was established in 2009 with a vision to promote Direct Action support in communities and regions where traditional charities and aid do not operate. VESA has worked within the same communities, using short term projects like house building or school refurbishments along with conservation projects to work toward achieving a long term sustainable solution to the social and environmental issues that these communities face.
Every single cent, euro or (if payday arrives and you're feeling generous) a few bob will count, and help me to make a difference to the lives of many people in the struggling community I am going to be designated to.
I will also be eternally grateful to anyone who wouldn't mind taking a few seconds to share this fund with their own friends and family, as the more the merrier!
(Also fair play and thanks a mill if you have managed to read this far through it),
