 My uncle Catarino’s memorial fund

Donation protected
On November 23, 2019, I was with my mom when I found out my uncle, her only brother who lived nearby, died after he fell more than 16 feet off a roof at a construction site.  As I watched the tears run down my mom’s face I thought to myself, “this is the last thing she needs right now”.

Earlier this year my mom also lost her mother who was suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia. Two weeks after we visited my grandmother in Mexico this summer, she had cardiac arrest and passed away.

My uncle immigrated to the U.S. when he was 14. As the son of two farmers, he came here to support his family back home. My grandparents relied on him until the day he died.

During this holiday season instead of enjoying our blessings, we find ourselves going through this very tough and emotional period. It has greatly affected our family, but I can hardly imagine how my mother feels.

The loss of my uncle and grandmother back to back has taken a toll on my family's finances. My family and I have established a memorial fund to help cover funeral expenses and get my uncle's body back to Mexico, and to help my mother and family with any unforeseen expenses on this long road ahead of us.

Thank you.
