My Mum died from malignant melanoma and my Dad from prostate cancer (so our family are at heightened risk) and I have seen at first hand the vital support that organisations like Maggie's provide to individuals and families facing such challenges.
I am a relative novice at cycling over any great distance, but reading Sir Chris Hoy's book at the start of the year both moved and inspired me. I decided to get my wheels and oil can out of the cellar (and perhaps even to do a bit of training) to take on his Tour de 4 event on 7 September.
I will be doing the Blue Route which is 38 miles/60km and 1,775ft (gulp!) in elevation and so far I remain under-prepared so while I plan to complete the task the suffering for the outcome will that much greater!
I'd be very grateful if you could help me, even in the smallest way, towards my target for this very worthy cause.
I'll do the hard work! :-)
