On the 3rd July this year our dear friend Daniel Ibbotson died from Multiple Myeloma, an incurable cancer that he had been diagnosed with in 2014. Daniel loved bikes from a very early age and kept riding as much as he could across the years. I used to see him on his daily commute with his faithful dog Logan running beside him, and it always made me smile. He had a young family, so when he had the opportunity to he would also spend time with his friends mountain biking around Scotland - one of his favourite pastimes.
Daniel was young when he was diagnosed, just 41, and because of this he was able to work with his team and put himself forward for clinical trials and various types of chemotherapy treatment programmes across the years.
Myeloma UK plays a crucial role for those affected by Multiple Myeloma, funding research to help improve diagnoses, treatment and care.
The Beatson Cancer Charity supports The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre's commitment to advancing clinical excellence in all areas as well as enhancing cancer patients' sense of wellbeing through various services offered to patients and their families.
We plan on fundraising for both charities. Any contribution, no matter how big or small will help support the crucial work of Myeloma UK and The Beatson Cancer Charity.
Starting and finishing at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome on Sunday 7th September 2025, we will be riding a 37.9 mile route with others on the Tour de 4 Charity Ride. This is Chris Hoy's vision is to bring together people who have been affected by cancer - whether directly or indirectly - to challenge perceptions, inspire hope and raise vital funds for cancer charities across the UK.
Thank you for your support.
