My Smiling Warrior: Holiday Boxes
Donation protected
This holiday season marks the third year that Warrior Survival Boxes will be given to mothers at Connecticut Children's Medical Center in honor of sweet Kevin. This tradition was born of my intention to help other mothers as they live through their child's cancer journey. I lived the experience and have firsthand knowledge of how difficult it is to remember to take care of yourself. Your life changes, your home is a hospital room, and you think of nothing else than your child's life.
Warrior Survival Boxes are my way of trying to help families in this very same position. The boxes are filled with every day items that are often forgotten at home, but are much needed to take care of themselves. Boxes are filled with self-care supplies (i.e. chapsticks, dry shampoo, etc.) that give some sense of relief or care to mamas as they face those difficult days.
With your help over the past two years, I've been able to deliver these boxes during the holidays, right before Christmas, to more than 50 mothers. Some of them had been there for months, others were brand new. All of them were fighting alongside their child and trying to make the best out of Christmas in the hospital.
I'd like to bring a small smile to their faces again this year. I know that this makes Kevin SO proud. Thank you for all your continued love and support!
