Hello, my name is Priyanka Gandhi, I am 18, from Oxfordshire. I am a Fly2Help Scholar trying to raise money for an ATP integrated course, which I have recently started with QualityFly; I am unable to afford the whole amount myself, as my mother has raised me all alone since the age of 6 months.
I know there are many students out there who need money just like me for their studies, but what makes me different is all of the things I have achieved until now.
I have wanted to become a pilot since the age of 7, and have never changed my mind since: I joined the Air Cadets in 2014 as my interest in aviation grew bigger, which helped me gain a lot of experience in not only flying but other essential skills needed in life such as being first aid qualified, as well as skills needed for becoming a pilot such as radios, which I have a Bronze qualification in. In the first year of being a cadet, I was able to achieve the rank of Corporal. Following on a year later, I was able to achieve the rank or Sergeant, which I am very proud of, and now I’ve achieved the rank of flight sergeant. I have also achieved a GCSE in Aviation Studies, which allowed me to complete an Instructor Cadet course, qualifying me to instruct other cadets and help them achieve things like myself.
I have also taken part in a scholarship called Fly2Help Aim High, which saw me learn more about the day-to-day workings of pilot life. I was privileged enough to win the William Sharpe Trophy as part of the scholarship for being the most improved candidate on the scheme, which provided me with £500 worth of flying lessons.
For the course I would like to take, I will need approximately £60,000, which is a lot. However, this will pay for everything I will need including all the books and tuition fees and other essential learning materials.
