My mom's fight for a life

My mom is 43 years old and a wonderful mother of 5. Last year she was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma. Leiomyosarcoma is a type of sarcoma cancer. Leiomyosarcomas are malignant tumors which develop from smooth muscle tissue. She had a large tumor removed from her stomach area last August and we all believed it was the end of it. She was put through chemotherapy to "kill any possible lingering cancer cells" but unfortunately that did not happen. She now has two small tumors on the right side of her abdomen and another one on the top of her right lung. We travel from El Paso, to Houston, TX about every 6 weeks for my mom to have studies done and a plan of action with a sarcoma specialist in the MD Anderson Cancer Center. She does have an amazing oncologist doctor here in El Paso, but there are no sarcoma specialists here which is why we travel to Houston. I am trying to raise money to cover the traveling expenses. We usually go for only 3 days so we don't spend too much on food and lodging. My mom has received three different types of chemotherapies through this battle with this cancer and the first two did not get a reaction from the tumors. They still grew despite the treatment. Finally this third chemotherapy is the one we've received good new with. It is killing the tumors from the center despite their growth. We are so happy to have some good news after a year long of running around with nothing to show for it. We have are now hoping that it has stunt the growth of these tumors and then hopefully finally rid of them entirely.

A little about my mom before this disease:
She is so much fun, loving and caring. Her children range in age from 25 to 14. She's been a devoted soccer mom and is the light and life of our family. Before her sickness, she was the one who liked gathering everyone of the family for holidays, cookouts and just to spend time together. My younger brother is now entering high school and joined the marching band. My second youngest is getting ready to finish high school and move on to college. My sister has given my mom two beautiful grandchildren and my brother has made her proud and was the first one to make her a grandmother. When I got engaged last year, she was the happiest mom in the world and couldn't wait to get the wedding planning started. When she got sick and I talked to her about postponing my wedding so that we can focus solely on her health, she was entirely against the idea. She says my wedding keeps her healthy by having something so important to her to look forward to and fight to be a part of. So my strong and crazy mom is determined and she will beat this because in her world, impossible is just not an option, not when she has so much to fight for.
