My Mom’s Cancer Medicine

Donation protected
Thank you for taking the time to read my mom’s story and experience. We all know loved ones we desperately want to help and take away their pain anyway we can.  Wish it upon ourselves instead of them. After all, they do  not deserve this. So this is why I am sharing  my mom’s battle- anything to alleviate any ounce of pain she could potentially avoid.

August of 2017 my mom received news that there were nodules on her lung and needed a biopsy. The results were positive for Cancer. After all other tests it was Stage 4.

At the same time she had symptoms of a pinched nerve in the back of her neck and right arm. It came on suddenly - she couldn’t lift her right arm well or had the strength she used to.

She couldn’t sleep laying down because nothing was comfortable, and slept in 10 minutes intervals sitting up. 30 minutes was rare but so thankful it was more than 10.

We were in the ER or urgent care 2-3 times a week trying to get relief for her. Since the first day they asked her “what is  your pain level from 1-10, 10 being greatest”? My mom’s answer was always the same - 9 or 10. Morphine shots brought her to a 7 and she was comfortable for only 3 hours.

An MRI was ordered. We went for the results that was a suspected “slipped disc” was metastasis Cancer in the neck and bone.

After 3 additional MRI’s they discovered it in the hips. Now in the liver.

We went to HOA for 10 radiation treatments first to relieve the neck pain and a cocktail of pain medications and steroids to help. (P.S. Priscilla there is an angel!)

She began her first chemo treatment of 3 different medicines yesterday but one was not covered by her insurance. Her oncologist Dr. Agheli even went so far as to call the insurance company personally to insist she needed this medication to protect her body. Still...denied.

This is Neulasta to help keep her white count up to protect her body since the immune system will be down. She had already been fighting an infection just before going in yesterday.,

If anybody knows my mom-they know she is the sweetest, funniest, loving, non-judgmental, hard working, giving, and a light to anyone else she meets. She is my best friend and deserves all I can do, and why I’m making this effort to raise money to get this Medicine for her.

If you cannot donate, please pray for healing for my mom, Dale. ❤️

Best to all*

Good Morning all*

Foremost, we want to thank each and every person who has reached out by whatever means to support mom in this.  We have joyful tears whenever we see/hear the names of friends and loved ones who are standing in mom’s corner.

I am am posting a separate update shortly after this edited version, but I received an email notification from gofundme a couple weeks ago about our story.

There are some missing pieces in our story which go fund me would like to include. So here they are:

“1. Who you are”

A: Nicole Lanieu (campaigner) , only daughter of Dale Lanieu (Recipient).

”2. Where you’re from”

A: I am from Liverpool, NY. My mom is from E. SYR originally then moved to Liverpool.

”3. Your relationship to the parties you’re raising funds for”

A: See question 1 answer.

”4. How the funds will be used (be specific as possible)”

A: Our intention to raise over $6,000 for out of pocket specialty drug expenses. Specifically, Neulasta which is not covered under the Aetna insurance. This was for a one time “shot” of a drug to build mom’s white cell count and protect her immune system. chemotherapeutic treatments weaken the immune system and exposes a patient to other complications; and we felt it was an imperative piece to recovery and to increase quality of life during.
*See latest update for changes

”5. If you intend to withdraw the money, how you plan to send the funds to the parties you’re raising money for or use the money on their behalf”

A: I will be using the money for my mom directly to pay her medical bills and all associated with the cancer treatment. She is no longer able to physically do the task of paying bills and I am taking that responsibility for her.

Thank you all once more*
