Be part of my journey: Becoming a medical provider

Donation protected
My journey to this August of 2019 began as an uninsured child, living in poverty and in a medically underserved area. When I was 9 years old, I had a vivid dream during the night and saw my future-self as a medical provider who was saving a very ill, poor child’s life. In that moment, I felt complete, and knew at that young age that this was my calling - my reason to live. Although this was a child’s dream, it was strangely prophetic of my journey to soon become a Physician Assistant who will be providing medical care for those living in poverty. My goal is to work in a medically underserved community providing high quality healthcare for those in need; making an impact to heal those who are hurting. I have overcome many obstacles with God by my side. I am determined to succeed and give back the many blessings that I have received to my community. But, I need your help now.

I am a second year Physician Assistant student at the University of Texas Medical Branch. I am just a FEW MONTHS (one summer semester) away from graduating with a Master of Science: Physician Assistant Studies. As a PA, I will be a mid-level medical provider that can diagnose, request and interpret diagnostic studies, treat and prescribe medications to my patients in collaboration with a Physician. During my Bachelor’s and Master’s at Texas A&M University, I was working two jobs to pay for school. However, as a PA student, we have clinical rotations that can be up to 7 days a week, 12 hours a day. As a result, I have not been able to work to pay for this final phase of my education.

Every semester of my college career, I have been proactive in finding funding by sharing my story. Thanks to the grace of God, during the past two years of PA training, I’ve been able to find additional funding through scholarships, nonprofit organizations, family and friends. I received two merit-based national recognitions by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and was selected as National Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholar. However, I am posting this fundraiser because I desperately need to find funding for my summer semester tuition and fees, cost of living, and licensing certification fees to be a practicing PA in Texas. All my resources have been depleted and there are no funds for this last semester. I am proud to share my journey with you, and by donating, you will become part of the journey of a first-generation college graduate who will the first in his family to pursue a career in Medicine! God bless you for your help. Thank you.
