Please Help My Girlfriend Dani Recover from Cancer

Hey there. My name is Rags, though I'm probably known more in online spaces by Chip.

In July this year, my girlfriend Dani began experiencing progressively worse health complications. On July 24th, we got a call from her primary care, and they sternly urged us to go to the ER. After some blood tests and vitals checks to assess the situation, they recommended a bone marrow biopsy to test for Leukemia. Although we were still hoping for the best, they were already very confident in this prediction and had rushed her to the larger hospital to prepare for the subsequent treatment. Unfortunately, they were correct, and she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia shortly after she arrived.

For those unaware, AML is an aggressive form of blood cancer; once discovered, it must be treated immediately. The doctors have gone forward with chemotherapy, which seems to have been very effective. Furthermore, genetic results from the biopsy have revealed that we have the odds in our favor toward recovery. She has a good-risk variety, and we firmly believe she will eventually be going into remission and can stay in remission. As of now, she's been in the hospital for approximately one month. We hope she can come home soon.

At that point, she will be going through a few more months of outpatient care. Her doctors have instructed us to have a 24/7 caretaker present and available to bring her to the hospital at any moment in case any complications arise. We've been living together for quite some time now, and naturally, it makes the most sense for me to be that person. Yet, I sadly cannot offer the resources to give her this support on my own. Medical bills aside, the restrictions on being a 24/7 caretaker will mean I will be forced to give up my current job. Doing so will bring us uncertainty and insecurity financially. I will need help.

The past 2-3 weeks have been exceedingly stressful, unlike anything I've experienced. It amazes me that my girlfriend has the strength and presence of mind to be so calm and uplifting in the face of this illness, and her courage has given me a depth of admiration towards her that I could never adequately put into words. I believe someone of this incredible character deserves the opportunity to recover as comfortably as possible. I love her more than anything, and it would mean the world to me if you could spare some support towards this goal in any capacity. All funds raised by this campaign will purely go to our living expenses, and any amount over these necessities will go directly towards the medical bills or her student loans.

Much love and thank you to those who have read this, shared the link to this campaign or donated. I sincerely hope I can return the support somehow down the line when I am able. I appreciate you always.
