My Fight for Life with Lupus

Hello everyone, I humbly ask you to please take the next 2 minutes of your time to share my story on this platform.  My name is Jackie Flores, and I recently was diagnosed with a chronic immune disease called Lupus.  In September of 2016, my life changed completely.  I was going through some chronic body pains, had ulcers in my mouth which prevented me from eating, and nonetheless very lethargic. That’s pretty much when Felipe took me to the hospital because things just weren’t right. He knew I wasn’t the same active Jackie, I wasn’t eating, and I had some rash on my face.. After spending the night at the hospital I was finally discharged and was told I had Lupus, and was given a referral to see my doctor; whom confirmed the diagnosis. With several doctor visits I was told I have Systematic Lupus Erythematosus, as well as Lupus Neuphritus (which affects the kidney). Since then I’ve been trying my best to get back to the lifestyle I use to have. I’ve started an anti-inflammatory diet and stopped drinking. I got better for a while, so then I started trying to work out and play softball again, but It seemed like Every time I did anything physical, I would flare up. It was like taking a step forward and two back. So I knew I had to take a step back from doing those activities. 

Ive been trying to get better, but my blood and urine levels are saying something different. My blood counts aren’t too off, but the amount of protein in my urine has increased within my visits. With that being said, my doctor wants to do a kidney biopsy sometime next week.  

I recently graduated and currently working, but don’t have the funds for this procedure. My parents have helped me as much as they can, with helping me pay for not only this procedure but as well as my monthly medications and doctor visits. Being that this biopsy is next week and pretty pricey, I am  asking for your help if possible. I understand we all have our own expenses, so even the smallest amount is greatly appreciated.
