Mi nombre es Greisha L. Ortiz Hernández. Estoy súper emocionada porque he sido seleccionada para presentar parte de mi trabajo de tesis doctoral en el "14º Simposio en Dresden sobre Autoanticuerpos" en Dresden, Alemania, durante la primera semana de Septiembre de este año. Como ustedes saben, estoy realizando mi doctorado en la Universidad de Loma Linda en California, y mi participación en conferencias científicas es importantísimo y parte esencial de mi formación profesional.
Esta sería la segunda vez durante este año que mi proyecto de investigación es aceptado para presentarlo en una conferencia de prestigio. La primera vez fue durante la conferencia de investigación sobre el cáncer más grande en los EE. UU., "La Asociación Americana para la Investigación del Cáncer" (AACR, por sus siglas en inglés), en la que fui galardonada con una beca académica, ver enlace (sitio web del AACR)
Durante el "14º Simposio en Dresden sobre Autoanticuerpos", tendré la oportunidad de presentar mi trabajo de investigación ante la audiencia más prestigiosa y "cool" de este campo. Allí espero conectar personalmente con estos científicos en el campo de la autoinmunidad y obtener observaciones adicionales a mi trabajo de investigación.
El ser seleccionada para participar en esta conferencia es un logro inmenso porque es mega relevante a mi área específica de investigación. Este es un gran éxito en mi carrera y sé que será muy importante para el siguiente paso de mi carrera.
¿Por qué necesito tu ayuda para alcanzar mi meta? Lamentablemente, la conferencia no ofrece un premio de viaje para ayudar en mis gastos. Mi escuela pagará parte de mis gastos de viaje, como el registro y la comida, pero todavía tengo que cubrir los gastos de transporte y hoteles. Pienso que con tu ayuda, podré cubrir los gastos necesarios para presentar mi trabajo de investigación en cáncer de próstata, lo cuál me apasiona y he dedicado la mayoría de mi tiempo en los últimos 4 años.

Hello everyone,
My name is Greisha L. Ortiz Hernandez. I'm super excited because I have been selected to present part of my doctoral dissertation work at the 14th Dresden Symposium on Autoantibodies in Dresden, Germany this upcoming September. As you guys know, I am a doctoral candidate at Loma Linda University and my participation in scientific conferences is an essential part of my professional formation.
This would be the second time during this year that my research project is accepted for presentation at a prestigious conference. The first one was during the biggest cancer research conference in the USA, the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), where I was awarded as one of the 2019 Minority Scholar in Cancer Research Awards, see the following link (AACR Website).
During the "14th Dresden Symposium on Autoantibodies," I will have the opportunity to present my research work in front of the most prestigious, cool audience in this field. I expect to connect personally with scientists in the field of autoimmunity and get insights into my research work.
Being selected to participate in this conference is a HUGE milestone because the conference is relevant to my specific area of research. This is a great success in my career and I know it will extra important for the next step of my career.
Why I need your help to reach my goal? Sadly, the conference doesn't offer a travel award to assist in my travel expenses. My school will pay part of my travel expenses such as registration and food, but I still need to cover transportation fees and lodging. With your help, I will be able to present my research work in Prostate Cancer Research that I'm passionate for and, at the same time, represent women and minorities in science.
