<div>Hello, my name is Fernando Acuna, and my dad was taken into ICE custody.


</div>

<div>We understand that laws and legal processes are important. We are simply asking that my dad have the dignity and opportunity to defend his immigration case from home.


</div>

<div>On August 13, ICE arrested my father outside our home moments after he dropped my little brother off for soccer practice. He was taken to the Miramar GSA ICE Processing Center, where he remained for about <strong>96 hours. </strong>For roughly 67 of those hours, we heard nothing from him. No calls. No updates. <strong>It felt like he had disappeared.</strong>

<div>Eventually, he was transferred to Broward Transitional Center, where he was finally <strong>given access to a bed and shower for the first time in almost 4 days.</strong>

<div>For his bond hearing, my family gathered more than 200 pages of documents, including over 40 community testimonies, 20 years of tax records, and evidence that my dad has no criminal history after more than 25 years in the United States. Despite our efforts, his bond was denied after he was determined to be a flight risk. 
</div>
<div><b>Our family has serious concerns about whether he was given a full and fair opportunity to present his case.</b><br />

<div>Two days later, he was abruptly transferred again. We heard nothing for more than 34 hours until he finally called us from the Rio Grande Detention Center in Texas. My father told us that he had spent more than <strong>27 hours traveling with his hands and feet restrained and had been fed only about twice during the trip.</strong>

<div><strong>We are now pursuing a bond redetermination in hopes of bringing him home.</strong>

<div>This is the treatment of a man who, I repeat, has <strong>no criminal history after more than 25 year</strong>s in this country. He is a husband, a father of two, a taxpayer, a maintenance supervisor, a soccer coach, and a deeply loved member of his community. He is also an incredibly involved soccer dad to my little brother, who has been devastated by his absence, and a loving husband of over 28 years to my mom, who lives with a serious medical condition.
