My Brother Greg's New Lungs

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Karen and I am starting this gofundme for my brother Greg.  My brother Greg is 58 years  old  a father of 3 beautiful daughters and a grandson. He has always been a hard worker, a strong provider and a very quiet person. My mother always said that he always handed her his rent  money every week! Never needed to ask, as soon as he was paid he wanted to make sure he was responsible. Greg  went into the Air Force at a young age becoming  a young Father, he thought that would be best for him to provide for his young family. He worked on the jets as they came in and replaced their brake pads. He didn't realize they were wrapped in Asbestos and he  changed many in one day. After leaving the Air Force he started working at Delmarva Power. Greg worked many extra shifts in the towers of  the plant exposing his lungs to more damage.  A few years ago he was told that he would need a double lung transplant. His wife and daughters stood behind him as he was working very hard to be placed on the active list at Penn Hospital. As the time came to be placed on the active list he became not so eager for this big decision, Greg came to terms with himself and said he didn't think he could do it. At that time he went on Hospice and was making his final preparations to leave this earth and meet his Holy Father.  After many months of many prayers from many people he decided to fight for another chance. He worked hard to meet all of the requirements to be placed back on the Transplant list. He did it and he did it with the stregnth of his guardian angel I call his wife MaryKate. He recieved the call for his second chance on life on September 17th. He went into surgery at 1130PM and was out of surgery at 7:30 AM, his doctor said it went very well as the entire process has. He was discharged out of the hospital after a 11 day stay. Now is the time for the real work on his part as he is going to therapy 4days a week. They travel 3 hours one way and stay close to the hospital and return home Thursday evenings and start their week again on Sunday evening.  As you can imagine life keeps on and so do the bills. What seems to be a rough start to the rehab phase of this journey,  the first week someone crashed into their parked car in the hospital parking garage. Marykate has discovered a lump and is need of a mammogram scheduled around Greg's therapy and their youngest daughter needs her gallbladder removed( this was actually scheduled the Monday after he got the call) that is why I have started this page to help in the costs of their day to day finances. It's not easy to ask for help and that is why I thought I would do this for them. We are all praying and will continue to pray that they can travel this journey and that it goes as smooth as possible. As far as Greg has come I feel he is a miracle and GOD has a plan for him for sure. I have added a few pictures not sure how they will look. You can definitly see the change from when he recieved his new lungs. It was an absolute beautiful sight to see him take a breath with ease. Something we havent seen in a long time.
