Support Kristine in Her Battle Against Triple Negative Stage 2 Breast Cancer

Kristine’s Journey

“At the beginning of February, five days before Troy and I were to go on our first trip alone together in 29 years, I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Stage 2 breast cancer.

To start at the beginning, in November, after a routine mammogram, it was determined that I would require additional diagnostic imaging. Everett Clinic does not do this (everyone please note this). So, I was scheduled for another mammogram and diagnostic imaging, taking the first available appointment they had, January 26, two months after additional imaging was needed.

From November to December, I had no concern or worry; I had very little family history and any online test I had ever taken put me at low risk for breast cancer. Between Christmas and New Year, I thought it might be a good idea to check for a lump and boy, did I find one!

Fast forward to after our trip (yes, we did go and had the time of our lives). God knew what we needed and when. He gave us a reprieve before the storm.

I had appointments every day of the week. It was very overwhelming and exhausting. My treatment plan is 12 weeks of weekly Chemotherapy, followed by 12 weeks of Chemotherapy once every three weeks. I will have a month off, then surgery, followed by radiation. I am currently done with my first round and have begun the second part of my chemotherapy regimen, which is aptly named the Red Devil.”

Kristine has continued working multiple jobs throughout her treatment, but it has become increasingly difficult to meet the physical demands required. She has recently had a few episodes that landed her in the hospital for several days. Since starting her new chemotherapy regimen, The Red Devil, she has been experiencing severe fatigue and an increase in debilitating side effects. Her treatment is both grueling and extremely expensive. Our sister is now entering a period where it will not be possible for her to work as hard as she always has, and she will need our help to cover lost wages and her mounting medical expenses.

I’ve created this GoFundMe to relieve Kristine and her family during this challenging time from the ongoing financial strain they are currently experiencing by raising $10,000. Our collective donations will allow Kristine to put all her energy into one thing: BEATING CANCER INTO SUBMISSION!

"Do I understand why I am on this journey? No, I don’t, but I trust God has a plan and a reason.

I have been surrounded by a tribe of support. I have been blessed with people fasting and praying for me. I have been blessed with people bringing meals and weekly deliveries of flowers. I have chosen to be positive (because I have had dark and angry days, especially regarding my hair loss; didn’t even know I cared until it was gone).

I share this not for sympathy or pity (those days are behind me), but for encouragement, gratefulness, and a reminder to all ladies, GET YOUR BOOBS CHECKED, MINE TRIED TO KILL ME!”
