My Beautiful Psychosis Book Trailer

Donation protected
I’ve written a book, 'My Beautiful Psychosis', to change perceptions and de-stigmatise psychosis. It is due for publication on World Mental Health Day on 10th October 2019. I want it to go as far and as wide as possible. An AWESOME TRAILER is essential to achieve this.

I think psychosis is misunderstood and mistreated. I want my story to contribute towards a change in the mental health system. But I also want to help others who have been through it to see themselves in a more positive light. If a flower doesn't bloom in a dark corner, we don't ask what's wrong with the flower, we move it into the light.

I have already spent £2500 on making sure it is the best writing I can produce. And I've already raised £500 to pay an artist called Naiom for the use of her work ‘Straight Jacket’ for the cover. Thanks to all of those beautiful people who already contributed to this campaign. I think the image is perfect: the wild hair is beautiful and the straight jacket says psychosis. Hence 'beautiful psychosis'.

Now I am producing a short trailer to share on social media to promote the book when it is published. I am shooting it in a beautiful but run down house in Buenos Aires - the house being a metaphor for the house of our soul. A dance teacher at DNI Tango school will be performing a contemporary routine - dance representing our dance with the universal life force energy that flows through us all. I will shoot and edit it - as a I'm a documentary film maker and run Green Lane Films.

For the music I have commissioned Boe Huntress to sing a STUNNING cover of a 1980's track that shall remain a secret. Unless of course you contribute towards this Crowdfunding campaign that is. All donors will be sent the audio of the track for their own personal listening as long as they swear NOT to share it or even mention it to ANYONE. I don't want to spoil anyone's experience of recognising the song and wracking their brains trying to recall who originally sang it. Boe did a cover of 'Eye of the Tiger' and it changed the whole meaning of the song for me.

Boe worked on it for a day - playing around with the sound and recording an acoustic version simplifying the original recording that had a much bigger musical arrangement. A bit like Gary Jules did with 'Mad World'. She's only charging £100 for her talent!

I currently live in Buenos Aires where I dance tango and receive amazing care that will hopefully prevent further cyclical episodes. I clean and do lots of odd jobs in exchange for accommodation. I have a flat in England, which I rent out, and that rental income pays for my basic living costs. I live on £10 a day and have nothing in reserve.

I would really appreciate any support you can give. Your money will not only ensure the trailer is amazing, it will touch me deeply to know that you believe in me and my story.

I am so grateful to everyone who donates to this campaign. A BIG thank you from the bottom of my heart. You will be able to see your name in the acknowledgements section of the book. Haven't you secretly always wanted that?
