Ask just about anyone, and they will tell you that 2020 has been a year for the books. Almost every family has been impacted in some way, but for some, the results of a global pandemic, the fear of lost income, and their family’s health has been much more concerning.
Back in October, the Voss family was hit with Covid-19. Brandy and her 4 year old son, Conner, were lucky to have bounced back from the virus. Adam, Brandy’s husband, has not been so lucky. A few weeks after contracting the virus, Adam was having chest pain and shortness of breath. A visit to the doctor resulted in learning that Adam had a heart defect. Following a stress test that did not go well, Adam was sent to have a CT scan; the next day, he was asked to check in to the ER. Of course, this came as a shock to the family, and to add to the stress, Adam was told he has a 100% blockage in his left anterior descending (LAD) artery and a 70% blockage of a supply artery. This news came the day before Thanksgiving, and due to Covid-19, Adam spent the holiday alone in a hospital room while his wife and son were at home worrying whether he would get to come home at all within the next few days. Adam is facing a double bypass, and being only 36 years old, this is quite a shock to the family.
Regardless of a person’s health and employment status, bills keep coming, and they have to be paid. On top of the normal day-to-day bills, the Voss family is also looking at medical expenses that are going to add up quickly. With Adam not able to return to work as he would like to, the loss of income will impact the family greatly. We are raising funds in order to help this family get through the rough patch they are facing. Adam’s health should be the only thing this family has to worry about; if we can help alleviate some of the stress that comes with expenses, then maybe we can help spread some joy this holiday season. Any amount you can give will go towards helping Adam, Brandy, and Conner as they navigate through this trying time.
