On March 17, 2020, Jordan was diagnosed with young-onset stage 4 metastatic colon cancer, which has also spread to her liver. This type of cancer is more commonly seen in people in their 70s with additional risk factors, however, she has none of the risk factors and no previous family history. Since then, she has undergone aggressive treatment with no current end in sight. On March 25th, emergency surgery was performed to remove the primary tumour. After 8 weeks of healing, another small surgery was performed to insert a port-a-cath, and then chemotherapy began. As of October 6, 2020, she is on round number 10 of chemo. Unfortunately, Jordan is not a surgical candidate unless chemo is successful at shrinking the tumour on her liver.
Jordan is a loving mother and very involved with her children. Tragically, this is not the first time their family has been touched by cancer. Jordan's son, Jules, was diagnosed with leukemia in May 2015 at the age of 3 1/2. He is an incredible superhero and as of July 2020 celebrated two years off treatment. Anyone who knows Jordan will know what a fighter and a tremendous advocate she is for not only her own children but also childhood cancer awareness and all families dealing with this devastating journey. The stress of dealing with a child with cancer took a significant emotional and financial toll, and their family is once again faced with this incredible burden.
In order to have the best possible prognosis, Jordan has been accessing a variety of alternative therapies and practitioners, including acupuncture, naturopathy, and registered massage therapy. The cost of these treatments is significant, particularly as Jordan is self-employed and does not have extended health benefits. Additionally, she has lost further income due to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as her illness. She is still working as a chiropractor, but only able to work approximately 8 hours per week on the weeks she is not undergoing chemo. To further complicate matters, she is currently the sole parent to her two children, Alice and Jules, as their father is living in the United States and dealing with complications related to travel restrictions.
Jordan is an incredibly kind and giving person, and would undoubtedly rush to offer help and support to anyone facing similar circumstances. She is not one to ordinarily ask others for help, but financial support would greatly ease some of the stress she is currently facing. Jordan, Jules, and Alice are extremely grateful for any support you are able to provide! Let's help Jordan continue to fight.
If you are unable to contribute financally at this time, but would still like to offer some support, there is also a MealTrain where you can sign up to bring them a meal: https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/rwk30w
I am a friend of Jordan's. All funds raised will go directly to Jordan.
