Cancer Patient In Need of PET Scan

Chuck Herrmann was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in November 2013.  He has gone through a Whipple procedure, Chemotherapy and Radiation.  Six months after his last treatment his tumor markers have gone up considerably.  His oncologist has ordered a PET Scan twice within the last 2 months, insurance has refused to pay both times. So, a CAT scan was ordered but no tumors show up on the CAT scan.  The oncologist has suggested another round of Chemotherapy to try and put Chuck back into remission. But, this is a shot in the dark without knowing exactly where the tumor is or what exactly he will be treating. The oncologist absolutely needs the information that a PET scan would provide to successfully treat Chuck. A PET scan can cost up to $30,000. I am his wife, Melissa, and am having my own medical problems.  I was diagnosed with Marfan syndrome in 1996 and am now facing my 3rd heart surgery next month to replace my mitral valve and repair a hole that is between two chambers in the heart. I will be out of work for over 8 weeks and will have my own medical expenses. Please help us to pay for Chuck’s PET scan and other medical expenses as well as any expenses from my own surgery and subsequent recovery. Anything you can give, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated. Both Chuck and I are facing life and death medical situations and do not have the funds for the needed scans/treatments to get the care necessary to survive. Without the help of compassionate and generous people gifting us with funds necessary for scans and treatments we will not be able to receive the prescribed treatments. It is terribly humiliating for my husband and I to ask you for help, but we have nowhere else to turn.
