MX Earthquake/PR Hurricane
The YSU Latino Student Organization is calling for help from the YSU and surrounding communities to aid our brothers and sisters in Mexico and Puerto Rico. About the disasters:
Earthquakes in Mexico
A powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck southern Mexico on Tuesday, in Puebla state, 123km from Mexico City. At least 250 people have been killed, including 86 in Mexico City, 71 in Morelos and 43 in Puebla state. This catastrophe comes just 2 weeks after a powerful 8.1-magnitude earthquake which hit the southern pacific coast of Mexico.
Puerto Rico Hurricane
Hurricane Maria made landfall in Puerto Rico as a powerful category 4 storm early September 20 cutting electricity and phone lines, sending thousands of people into shelters and raising the prospect of deadly floods. The storm brings new misery to a region that has seen two other powerful hurricanes, Irma and Jose, in recent weeks.
All money raised will be withdraw by Dr. Alicia Prieto Langarica and will be donated, in equal parts, to the disaster accounts set up for each disaster through the Red Cross. We will also send support letters to the people in Mexico and Puerto Rico. Please help us show the victims of these natural disasters that we are thinking of them.
Thank you for your generous support.
