SOS - Save Our Sanctuary

Donation protected
On May 6th 2021, in the Yeovil County Court, the judgement was made AGAINST Jeannie and Paul and in favour of their Landlord. This means that they may be EVICTED from their home of close on 30 years at any time.

Jeannie's health has suffered greatly as a result of the stress and anxiety caused by this action. She has recently undergone MAJOR SURGERY for a serious life-threatening condition. Unbelievably, the Judge in the court proceedings ignored the medical evidence, not to mention to fact that Jeannie, Paul and all the rescue animals at Phoenix PAWS Rescue had NO HOME to move into, nor the means to fund a relocation.

Some recent good news however: Jeannie and Paul have been offered a social housing bungalow in the nearby village. Once the necessary work has been carried out on this by contractors, they will be able to move in sometime this autumn.

Thankfully, Jeannie and Paul also have access to a paddock nearby and most of the animals can be housed in sheds and enclosures here.  But they will need practical help and donations to help relocate and care for the animals.

These are the priority requirements:

* Sheds and outbuildings for the animals to live safely and comfortably.
* Practical help from PAWS supporters to physically help to move the animals to the paddock. Also to help Jeannie and Paul move house, as Jeannie has very limited mobility following her operation.
* Help from PAWS supporters to possibly foster some of the animals on a temporary basis, if necessary.
* Once relocation has - hopefully - taken place, volunteers to help with the upkeep and care of the animals in the rescue.

So PLEASE, if you can make a donation to help Jeannie, Paul and the animals in their time of need, this would be greatly appreciated.

Phoenix PAWS is one of the only sanctuaries that takes birds and animals others refuse as being regarded as 'pests', such as pigeons. Recently we have been inundated with pigeons needing help, from babies to injured adults.  We have a firm non-destruction policy for any bird or animal with a quality of life, knowing from experience that if any creature is happy and content it will thrive.  So we have many pigeons etc. that cannot go back to the wild for various reasons.  We therefore urgently need to build new aviaries plus a secure flight unit for young pigeons and birds to learn to fly properly before release.  Many of our animal units also badly need repairs and renewal, especially if these are to be moved to a new location.

Unfortunately, we have lost two regular fundraisers. This has meant a 50% drop in our regular monthly income causing huge problems.  We struggle with costs ever going up, managing only to afford the food and bedding etc. for the residents but not leaving enough for the extras we need, let alone the costs of relocating the sanctuary.

Please can you help those like Walter (pictured) to have the safe and secure home they, like all creatures in need deserve to have.

Thank you for your support on behalf of the birds and animals in need.
