Mutual Aid Fund for SW Side Undocumented Families

Funds will be deposited into the  Gage Park Latinx Council account, Director Antonio Santos will be withdrawing the funds raised through this account to distribute to Undocumented families on the southwest side. Your donation will  support an Undocumented family with $500 in financial assistance that will be distributed either electronically or via check.

As we continue to receive donations we will continue to allocate $500 to some of the over 2,500 applicants and hope to assist as many Undocumented families as possible through this uncertain time. Thank you.

As the COVID-19 crisis continues to devastate our communities and results in increasing unemployment, it is necessary  to look after our most vulnerable community members.

Undocumented workers in our communities (many of whom have worked and paid taxes in this country for many years) do not qualify for federal aid of any kind, including unemployment benefits. Many of these workers have families who live paycheck to paycheck. Their ability to pay rent, buy food, and support their families will continue to be severely impacted in the coming days, weeks, and months.

In an effort to support our community members, the Gage Park Latinx Council , along with organizers from Pilsen and Archer Heights, have organized this mutual aid fund to help alleviate some of the financial stress on undocumented community members living in Chicago’s southwest side.

We condemn the treatment that these community members receive from the state and federal entities and believe that all human beings and families deserve the right to exist freely in our communities. We are using this site to raise funds and next week applications will be available so that undocumented workers anywhere on the southwest side (Little Village, Pilsen, Archer Heights, Back of the Yards, Gage Park, etc.) can apply for finacial aid. We are taking careful precautions so as to not jeopardize the lives of our community members. The application will ask for  minimal information and will only be seen by four community organizers.
NO STATE ENTITIES will have access to applications or sensitive information.

We hope you will donate to our very important cause. Thank you for your support during these harsh times. We wish you, and your family, the best. We believe that we can get through this if we work together, ALL of us.
