Mutual Aid Solidarity for Kids

Life in lockdown is not easy for any of us.

Children, young people and families face extra challenges in meeting their needs during these difficult times.

We want to raise money to support the wellbeing of vulnerable children, young people and families in Reading in some small way.

We are coordinating this project in partnership with Reading Mutual Care, a mutual aid network supporting people during the crisis.

----------------------

Among the challenges that children and young people express for why lockdown is difficult, they tell us they miss their friends and the peer support they offer, they lack personal space with nowhere to go, they feel anxious and stressed by the changes of routine, and how their lives are changing.

----------------------

Our packs aim to help children and young people to:

- be grounded in their minds and their bodies

- connect with the space they are in with a fresh perspective

- connect with their curiosity, creativity and resourcefulness

We will support families by offering practical steps to support the mental health and wellbeing of their children, based on advice from the NSPCC

-------------
For the first pack we deliver, the money you donate will help to buy:

- ink and paper
- felt tip pens
- seeds
- postage stamps
- card

We plan to roll out further packs and collaborate with other mutual aid groups around the country as the next phase

Your donations will be gratefully received

Thank you!
