Hello Pollinators!

Our current fundraiser is to support our beloved So-Cal mental health providers who are financially impacted by the recent fires. We are fundraising as much as we can until our Spring Town Hall on Thursday March 20th. At which time we will gather a consensus on how to distribute funds. Please support us in taking care of each other as folks start to rebuild their lives.

If you are a therapist in need of funds - please fill out this form to be added to the list.

Regardless of where they are in their career, many mental health providers cannot work full-time due to low pay and benefits and high emotional fatigue. Emerging therapists are an especially vulnerable group due to a laborious licensure track and lack of professional development provided in training programs. There are many nuanced ways in which financial loss in climate disasters hits mental health providers.

Factors to Consider:

It is documented and well-researched that the licensure process can be exclusive and difficult to navigate, and the CA licensing exam adds “another layer of disparity.”

Licensure is a time sensitive process (6 years in CA, 4 years in TX) that major life events have been known to disrupt.

Missing one day of sessions can be financially impactful from a sliding scale cost of $30-$800/lost per day.

If you are collecting your 3000 hours towards licensure, a full time week lost can be 5-10% of overall hours needed.

If you are working towards public student loan forgiveness, and lose funds, and cannot pay your monthly fee - your 120 payments are impacted and the process is delayed.

Many therapists do not have
sick days,
paid time off
health insurance
professional support networks (hang your hats and stay a while, y’all!).

I have heard directly from therapists who have lost their homes - and for many - their offices, who continue to find ways to provide services to their clients. We all know the delicate crunch between caring for ourselves and others. We want to support our peers access respite by relieving them of a monthly student loan bill, portion of rent, health insurance, or a car payment.

Thank you for considering a donation to support So-Cal Therapists impacted by this climate disaster. Every penny is valuable.
