Lismore, NSW was ravaged by flood.
Help is needed for the iconic and much loved Lismore record and CD business -Music Bizarre, to get the shop back on its feet after the terrible damage by last week’s floods.
I am David Lacey and Music Bizarre has been an institution in Lismore since 1989. I was a partner in the business for over 20 years. It’s one of the last remaining record shops in Australia. I cried when I saw the devastation that the flood caused.
Although I’m no longer in Lismore, this is what I am doing to help Deb get this institution back on its feet.
Deb Ray who was my business partner for many years and now runs Music Bizarre is a wealth of knowledge, supporter of local musicians and artists and is an inspiration for many in the Lismore community. Last Friday, the fast rising flood waters that ravaged Lismore were especially difficult for Deb as both her home and business were in the firing line. It was impossible to be in both places at once. She was hit very hard, describing her situation on her Facebook page “Pretty rooted ......both me & the shop ......l've lost nearly everything but we're salvaging what we can .......l just couldn't be in 2 places at once and l'm also kicking myself as is almost everyone in town l would guess ...... We've had phenomenal help & that's really heartwarming ....but as you would know l'm massively heart broken & financially broken too .....not beaten but .....Music Bizarre will continue ....somehow .....”
